The Seminar

Personally, I enjoyed the seminar. At first I didn't think I was going to say anything because I usually don't like talking in front of people, let alone giving my opinion out in an open discussion. The seminar somewhat forced me to do that and I am happy it did. The talks about "1984" were great and I loved hearing everyone's opinion. The topics we talked about were extremely interesting and the topics in the book seem to be true, just to an extent. The seminar and the book have made me realize how much our world is like "1984" and it is really creepy and scary. It sucks to think that this could be the start to becoming like "1984" although I doubt it will get to that level anytime soon. But it gets me thinking about the similarities between how we use our technology and how The Party uses technology in "1984". I think the difference between the two is that the people in "1984" are completely aware that they are always being watched and we have no clue when or how we are being watched or even if we are being tracked but only that it is possible.
