Honor Code

In David Brooks' article, "Honor Code," he describes the crisis in education for boys and how he believes that school systems try to influence and force children into an image of what the "ideal student" should look like.  In response to the article, I don't think it's necessarily fair to say any of this about boys because it is a scientific fact that it takes us longer to mature compared to girls.  Instead, we should be focused long term on life after education, specifically the workforce.  The amount of men serving in the military, government, and law enforcement far outweigh the number of women.  It may be true that we are being drawn back in education but what we all get educated for; the workplace, is still dominated by males even if our test scores and reading levels are significantly lower than females.

  1. Nick, as I read your post. I feel that I am reading something that I would write. As you said, I do not think it is fair that we, males, are judged based on our test scores and performances in high school due to that fact that we mature at a slower pace. As you stated in your post, men continue to dominate the work force in numerous ways, even if it might not be fair. Although it seems that males struggle in high school, it is proven that males can and do succeed in life after high school, the time where we have to. By saying this I am not trying to take anything away from women, but the side of success that men have is no where to be found in the article.
