Gender Roles and Race

In our society today there is a clear issue regarding race and gender. We expect people of specific races or genders to act or speak in a certain matter. When in reality it shouldn't matter what race you are or if you are a male or female to be and act the way you want. We are all individuals and should be who we want to be and not mold ourselves to fit societies standards. One thing that worries me about our world today is that we can distinguish these issues but do we ever act on them? It feels as if we can talk about how bad things are in the world or say that we want change but won't take any action to make this happen. We need to take steps into making a change no matter how big or little they are.
All in all actions shouldn't be tied to the color of a person's skin or because they are a boy or girl. We are all different and at the end of the day you can't place people in race or gender categories because we aren't identical. That is what makes human beings unique and we shouldn't knock each other down for our differences, we should embrace them. Once society can start looking passed these things we will all start to be treated more equally, possibly making it easier for people to get along and start accepting each other.
