My situation

I am very conflicted at the moment.  Most of you know that I play football.  Going into the season I never thought I would have colleges interested in me playing football for them. But here I am with a few colleges asking about me and trying to recruit me.  The thing is that I don't really know if I want to play college ball.  I love the sport and it's a big part of my life but I'm kind of tired of playing.  It's such an exhausting sport and is very time consuming.  I really am torn because who can turn down a free education? Also I want to stay local so I can stay close with my family and girlfriend.  If I get into the college I want to attend, CSULB, and I have an offer from a college to play football with a free ride, I really don't know what I would do. I just thought I'd share this because it's something I think about everyday.

  1. Honestly I think that if you don't want to play football in college then you shouldn't. I know it can be tempting to go to a college because they're offering to pay for your school but, it could be something you regret later. If football is already consuming a lot of your time now then I can only imagine that it would be consuming even more of your time in college. I think you have to ask yourself if you'd rather go to a school that you want to go to where you can find new interests of yours or if you'd rather spend most of your time playing football at a school you don't even want to be at.

  3. I feel the same as Kalei. Don't do something that you're growing tired of or uncertain about. High school sports are time consuming now, and with classwork and assignments 10x harder in college, it will only get worse. A free education although, is a big opportunity. College as we all know is getting more expensive every year, and an offer to go to school and do something you're already good at would definitely take a financial burden off your parents.

  4. I would have to agree with the two people above, if you don't want to play college ball then you shouldn't be forced to do it. Even though you are a good football player and you are getting recruited, in the end, it is your decision to play or not. A free education is very nice but what is the point when you aren't happy. College sports will consume a lot of your time, it is just a matter if you want to commit to that. In the end, you should do what makes you happy.
